Cavalry Brewing Closing, Sold To Black Hog Brewing

From CTBeerWine.com

Well, this was pretty much floating around the rumor mill the last few weeks when people were realizing that Cavalry Brewing Company and the soon to open Black Hog Brewing Company had the same address in Oxford, CT. It is always sad when a brewery (well, any small business for that matter) closes up shop but fortunately in this situation – a new brewery will be starting up in Connecticut.

I sold the brewery to Black Hog Brewing Company yesterday [May 5, 2014]. The new head brewer is Tyler Jones and his partners Tom and Jason Sobocinski. They all have a wealth of experience in the industry and I wish them the very best. I would like to thank everyone that has helped and supported me over the last four years. It has been a great experience and one that I would gladly do again. I am sure that I will see many of you at the local beer festivals and tastings. I would like to send a special thanks to Justin for all of his effort and support in helping the business grow. By the way, Justin, now works for Black Hog Brewing! Take care and thanks again for your support!

Cavalry Brewing Closing - Facebook Post

Tyler Jones left Portsmouth Brewery (New Hampshire) to become the head brewer as well as part owner along side the Sobocinski brothers. If you live near New Haven and find yourself saying “Hmm, wait a minute…Sobocinski sounds familiar!” Well, you are right! Jason and Tom Sobocinski own Caseus (Kay-see-us) a fromagerie and bistro that opened back in early 2008.

Good luck Mike on your future endeavors! To Tyler, Jason and Tom, good luck on starting up Black Hog Brewing Company which appears to be gaining some great social media attention with over 1,300 likes in a matter of days!
