July 28, 2014

OXFORD, CT – Black Hog Brewing Co. has announced the premiere of its first four beers.  All four will be immediately available on draft in bars and restaurants throughout Connecticut.

GINGA’ NINJA – Red IPA brewed with 5 lbs. of fresh ginger in each batch, and Centennial, Cascade and Apollo hops.

EASY RYE’ DA – An easy drinking “session Rye IPA, brewed with “experimental” 05256, Nugget, and Summit hops.

GRANOLA BROWN – Brown ale brewed with a “granola” mix of oatmeal, grains, hops and roasted malts.

S.W.A.G. – Summer Wheat Ale brewed with Organic Grapefruit peel and brewery-grown fresh sage.

Founded by Tyler Jones and brothers Tom and Jason Sobocinski, Black Hog is committed to crafting flavorful, drinkable beers, using the finest and freshest ingredients.

Star Distributors, Inc. of West Haven and Hartford Distributors, Inc. of Manchester will be handling distribution. “Our team is extremely excited to see our beers hit the streets,” says co-owner Tom Sobocinski, “and to work with two highly reputable distributors.”

Co-owner and Head Brewer Tyler Jones has made a pledge to support local farmers by using their ingredients in Black Hog beers as often as possible.  The first brew in the limited-release Farmland Series will be a Strawberry Gose, which was made with over 100 lbs. of fresh organic strawberries from Massaro Farm in Woodbridge. Strawberry Gose is expected to be available in early August.

Black Hog has also made a commitment to supporting charities.  A portion of the proceeds from sales of East Rye’Da will be donated to the National Motorcycle Safety Foundation (msf-usa.org). Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds from sales of the Farmland Series will be donated to the Working Lands Alliance to support and protect Connecticut Farmland (workinglandsalliance.org).

The on-site tasting room at the Oxford, CT brewery is currently under construction.  An announcement regarding the Grand Opening is forthcoming.  Visitors will also be able to purchase a variety of Black Hog Brewing Co. beers in 32 oz. “squealer” bottles at the brewery. Black Hog is currently in discussions to distribute a selection of their beers in 12 oz. cans and are aiming for a Fall 2014 launch.
